Stories of Us - February 17, 2023

Partnership Educators,

It is with great pleasure that I have the ability to deliver stories each week.  The stories of our lives are intertwined with the story of our district.   Moments of elation and extreme happiness can quickly be followed by moments of sorrow.

"Each day holds a surprise. But only if we expect it can we see, hear, or feel it when it comes to us. Let's not be afraid to receive each day's surprise, whether it comes to us as sorrow or as joy.  It will open a new place in our hearts, a place where we can welcome new friends and celebrate more fully our shared humanity."  Henri Nouwen

With a heavy heart, I am informing you about information that I just received regarding the passing of a long-time teacher and friend of Redding School District, Gayle Schipper.  Gayle has been a part of our family for many years working as a teacher since 1986 with the last eight years at Bonny View with me as one of her grade level partners.  She retired in 2009.  A piano player, she organized the annual 4th and 5th-grade musicals each year and would play the music at the sing-a-long events.  The Redding School District family extends our hearts and prayers to her family as they mourn her passing.  The close ties we have with each other bind us together.  We will miss her and remember her kind loving heart.   An Irish proverb says, "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love, leaves a memory no one can steal."

See you after the break,
Rob Adams
